As reported in March by the TnT Guardian, Rapso newcomer Rizon was working on a video for his smashing debut single “Reach”, which was released back in November 2k6 for last carnival. Now here it is, directed by Stephan Jones.
The tune also made it onto the ‘Best Of The Best Soca Grooves 07′ sampler, available @ Faluma.
Congrats to Ultra Sonic Band, who took the title this year! Their winning song was “Double Bubble”. It’s the bands fourth Roadmarch title (2002 “Big Banana”, 2003 “Sponge Bob”, 2005 “Sun Or Rain”).
The Culturama Senior Kaiso Contest was won by Keith Scarbrough, better known as “Dis and Dat”. Astro placed second, Ginger third.
With only 1 point in difference, Finley “Scholar” Jeffrey (217) won this years groovy soca title against his best competitor Kerleen (216) on Wednesday in Beausejour, Grenada. Scholar already took the 2k6 Calypso King title.

Guyana artist Adrian Dutchin and Bajan soca band Krosfyah recently released this nice girls tune. The video was produced by Martinique born and Barbados based video artist Maharaki
Trini artist Iwer George – recently on rotation with songs as ‘Fete After Fete’, ‘It Must Work’ or his 2k6 masterpiece ‘We Reach’ – finally announced his new stage name at the Soca 4 The Summer Show in Mucurapo. At least for the next Carnival season the reigning Soca Monarch will be known as “The Boss”.
The famous soca and calypso veteran already had a few nicknames throughout his career, so it’s up to you fans to guess about his upcoming ones 
His song “Jo Jo-Tarsey Meira Jeera” has been counted 117 times throughout several T&T carnival events. Yankaran, who is living in NY and started singing at the age of ten is a well known artist to chutney fans, as he composed “Nanda Baba”, a song, which still gets a lot of airplay and credits among the East Indian community.
Besides, the NCFTT announced the 2008 Chutney Soca Monarch Competition to be bigger and better promoted, as sponsors are already found.

Square One is going to release a pan soca album of 15 tracks, including some of their greatest hits and collaborations with Contone, Red Plastic Bag, Kimberley Inniss and many more.
It was mainly recorded at Lethal Studio, Barbados.
