Chalkdust is Calypso Monarch

Chalkie did it again and took the Calypso Monarch crown on Dimanche Gras this Sunday with the song “My Heart and I”. He equalled the record of The Mighty Sparrow, who also has eight titles. Chalkdust said to the Trinidad Express:

Now that I have equalled Sparrow’s record, I am thinking of bowing out of the competition, out of respect for Sparrow. I have no desire to break his record because of what he means to calypso and all he has achieved through the years.

1st: Dr Hollis “Chalkdust” Liverpool – “My Heart and I” (434 points)
2nd: Joanne “Tigress” Rowley – “Yuh Ent See Wajang Yet” (426 points)
3rd: Winston “D’Original De Fosto Himself” Scarborough – “Could We Rise Again” (425 points)
