St. Maarten Carnival (Netherlands Antilles) just had it’s kick-off last weekend. Main events are the Soca Explosion on Sunday, April 29 with Respeck Band, Maximus Dan and more. The Zouk/Kompas Fest features Carimi and more. The Grand Carnival Parade is held on April, 30th and May, 1st.

Soca D’ Vote, the pro-vote initiative for US citizens of Caribbean descent is back with a new soca tune (see our article about the campaign launch in 2004). The song is produced by Nigel Lewis. Apart from the mp3 the website provides voter registration forms.
