Two guys from Leeds/UK lay claim to have the only “official” tune for the Soca Warriors produced. This must be an insult to all the Trinbagonian musicians, who recorded over 20 songs to support their team. True fans stick to Maximus Dans “Fighter”, which is a true hynm. [via Global Voices Online]

Nothing is wrong with these guys writing a football tune for the Warriors. Join the line I say.
“Everyone in Trinidad is jumping up and down about the World Cup but no one had thought about doing a record. It took us about two-and-a-half minutes to write, then five weeks in Trinidad to record it. We mixed it in my studio at home.”
They have to realize that unlike the story they were not the first with that idea. However, I do have an issue with them claiming the “official” song. If TTFA did that I consider it a slap in the face to all our career musicians who seriously penned a tribute to our Soca warriors.
Fighter is, indeed, anthemic. TT fans might also want to check out jointpop’s rapso-style “Little Giants” tune, which they released way back in 2001. It’s freely available for download at the Warrior Nation website
me just say:
let dem british boys do what dey wanna do…
dem guys are and will ever be crab….
dem don´nt understand NOTHNG ´bout T T!!!
so let us just sing: “oooouuuuooooooooo-ouooouououou - i´m a soca warrior….”
p.s. see yuh in de 2nd round!!!!
