Last week the Lava Slide riddim was officially released by Faluma Rec. in Europe as 45rpm singles and it already entered the charts of the biggest Reggae/Soca/Reggaeton - website in German language dancehallmusic.de. Maximus Dan (High Grade) made it to the 2nd, Icon (Country Side) on the 3rd position, only beaten by Fantan Mojah.

Denise “Saucy Wow” Belfon has founded her new band called People’s Choice. Co-front singers beside Denise are Belfon’s husband Junior Reid and David Edwards, who were formaly part of the trio Flava. The launch of The People’s Choice starts is today at Club Platinum, La Romaine, Trinidad.

The Dominican Soca/Bouyon band WCK is currently working on their new album. The release is expected for the end of december. It will feature on of the original members, the singer and composer Rah Peters, who rejoined the band last year.
Probably the oldest record store for soca music, Rhyner’s, is now closed. Founded in 1938, the shop now moved from Prince Street, Port of Spain in Trinidad to a internet based online shop. Diana Rhyner said, that piracy, vagrancy and banditry forced the shop to close.

Bajan artiste Rupee, which signed a record deal over five albums with the major label Atlantic/Warner Music last year, said, that he’s still working with the label. The current period without any releases created the rumour that Rupee had been dropped from Atlantic.

The new solo album by Edwin Yearwood hits the stores. This is his second solo album besides numerous releases with his band Krosfyah. Don’t expect jump-up tunes.. this is the first “Popso” artist album. Most of the tunes are slow and mid tempo.
Beside new tunes the album has some classics like “Pump me up” or “Best in me” on it. There a features with Jamaican artists like Cecile, Lady Saw, Lexxus and Mr Mojo (Morgan Heritage). Underground Studio in Barbados did most of the production work.

Former Burning Flames member Clarence Edwards aka Oungku, who left the band a few weeks ago, has formed a new band called Red Hott Flames. The band will first appear for Miami carnival in october.
