The argument is going on now for years. London officials, esp. the major Ken Livingstone, wants the carnival out of the narrow streets of Notting Hill where the celebrations are traditionally held since 40 years. This year they try hard with their newest attempt to get their hands on the carnival: a “Caribbean Showcase” will be held at Hyde Park, which is close to Notting Hill. London Notting Hill Carnival Company says that the carnival community will boycott this event.
